Press Release Body = Cayman Islands (PR WEB) January 31, 2006, with the launch of www.canvasworks.ky, Cayman Islands artist Sheree Ebanks can touch the world with her captivating photography.
"The launch of this site provides an outstanding opportunity for people all over the world to experience the beauty that is the Cayman Islands," Ebanks said. "I look forward to sharing my work with a wider audience."
Not only can buyers browse and purchase Ebanks' outstanding photography in a variety of mediums, but they can also upload and purchase their own images, printed on canvas as a giclee print.
"Every person has an artist inside," Ebanks said. "This Web site provides people the opportunity to hang their own artwork on their walls.
Ebanks knows how important it is for individuals to treasure the art that they create with a camera: Her photography stemmed from an interest she had as a young child and grew into a passionate hobby over the years as she entered photography contests that caught her interest. One contest was for a photography book entitled "Moods of Cayman." Ebanks photographed Cayman with a variety of themes in mind. The end result? More than 20 of her photographs were selected to be printed in the book.
In 2004 she published "The Spirit of Cayman - The Aftermath of Ivan," with her sister Karie. This coffee table book features photos taken after Hurricane Ivan hit Grand Cayman in 2004.
"I have a love for the islands and the vibrant colors we find here," said Ebanks, who is studying with Alain Briot, a well-known landscape photographer who lives and teaches in Arizona. "I also love photographing new places - I love the southwest United States.
Even with her recent successes, Ebanks continues to work as the director and head of wealth management with Butterfield Bank. She lives on Grand Cayman with her husband and two daughters.
Photography, she says, is her hobby - her way of decompressing after a long week at work. A hobby to be shared with the world.
"I hope that my photography brings happiness and wonder to the viewer," Ebanks said. "I strive to capture our moments today so that they may be our memories tomorrow"
